Eulogy for Godmother
Dear mourners
Our dear aunt and my godmother left us early in life. She had a wonderfully mischievous sense of humor with an infectious laugh. I know she would like it if she could now see how the sun’s rays penetrate the morning mist today.
Silvia had an incredibly big heart and a contagious soulfulness. She was with me all my life and always held my hand. She was a strong independent woman and taught me to be self-confident and to fight for what I want to achieve. As she herself had no children, our relationship was different from the one I have with my parents. She was not as strict with me, of course, yet she taught me kindness, patience and I always admired her. She has remained a close friend to my parents over all these years.
She did not let her illness get the best of her and continued to enjoy life. She did not want to be treated differently and fought to the end. Even though her loss deeply hurts me and leaves a big gap, I take comfort in the fact that she will no longer suffer pain. What I learned from her and the memories we shared will remain in my heart forever.
Dear Silvia, thank you for showing me how to lead a graceful life.
Memorial service for a teacher
Speech given by the principal
Dear family Gubser, dear mourners
It is with great sadness that I am saying goodbye to our esteemed colleague and friend Mrs Angela Züger. The teachers and students of the Rothaus School are in great shock over the sudden death of Mrs Züger. O n behalf of all, I would like to express our sincere condolences to the Gubser family. We mourn the loss of a lively, dignified soul.
With Mrs Züger, our school is losing an extremely competent and passionate teacher, who shared her knowledge with students for more than 10 years. She always managed to keep the students interested and to inspire them. She regularly shared her musical talent with us – be it at school festivals, in music lessons or during class camps and managed to inspire music lovers to learn an instrument.
In addition to her work as a teacher, she was always very active in helping disadvantaged children and realised charity projects to support these children. We all still remember that Saturday when it rained heavily and Mrs Züger organised a sponsored run. It was certainly thanks to her motivating and cheerful nature that the whole school took part in it.
She has was very valuable to our school and contributed greatly to our team spirit. We will keep her in our memories and continue the projects she started in her honour.

Speech given by the family
Dear Fritz
It is infinitely difficult for me to stand here today and find the right words. I feel incredibly empty. You leave a big gap
in our lives. You have made our family complete and made us feel needed. As a small business owner, you had two teams to lead. You were always there for your employees and in the evenings and on weekends you took time to go to the mountains with us or played “Uno” for hours with the children. For all difficulties and problems you had a solution ready and always remained calm. As long as we are together, we will make it – that was always your credo. You were my rock and I don’t know how to manage life without you from now on.
I am infinitely grateful to have been able to spend all these years at your side. You were a loving father and my soulmate. You will always have a place in my heart and will remain my great love. We all miss you very much – and will look at every plane in the sky, just as you always did, and imagine you watching over us.
